Some people are against indoor cats and strongly feel cats should be able to play outside. Other cat owners don’t see the problem. We will let you in on a secret: indoor cats can be just as happy as outdoor cats, so they are right! Sometimes the circumstances make it just impossible for your cat to go outside and get back in without bothering anyone. Living in a high apartment is just one of those examples. In this blog we will share some great tips to keep your indoor cat happy!
Every cat likes to play, that’s a fact. If you have an indoor cat, make sure there a plenty of toys and a lot of variation. One thing is for sure, bored cats aren’t happy cats. Toys, toys, toys are the answer! Maybe you can add some catnip in some toys to make the situation extra interesting for your purry friend. Choose an interactive toy so you can play together with your cat.
Cats love to climb and go on adventures. Maybe you are handy or you know someone who could build a platform for your cat? If you have the space and you want to go all in for your cat, you can create a cat paradise where they can climb and jump wherever they want! Wrap sisal rope on certain places and you are ready to go!
- Quality time
The easiest (and most fun) way to keep them happy is of course to give them some face time. Spend time with your cat in any way possible: play, pet, groom or just take a (cat) nap together. Cats are special animals, so give them the attention and love they deserve!
Even if you have a really big house, your cat will find and discover every spot sooner or later. Make sure there are enough spots with a window so it can watch the world outside. It’s important to observe how your cat reacts on this. Maybe there’s a cat in the neighborhood that will upset yours? If this is the case, you can try to discourage that cat to visit your garden or you can make some windows off-limits to your cat.
Enjoy the quality time with your cat!
